About Isabel
I'm an independent storyteller-illustrator specialising in children's storytelling and illustration, based in South Wales.
Specialising in children's illustration, my work draws inspiration from the tradition of fairytales and fables. Observed with compassion and humour, my work focuses on observing the tiny beautiful details around us, and themes in my practice include wellbeing, kindness, cultural heritage and environmentalism.
With a background in heritage learning and interpretation, I've designed and curated exhibitions, written and illustrated learning resources, researched museum collections, and developed and delivered art and heritage learning sessions for families, students and adults. This experience has led me to my true passions, illustration and storytelling.
A self-published children's picturebook author, I love to create characters, settings and narratives that help us explore what it is to be human, the important of kindness, and fostering tenderness and compassion for all living things (whether people, animals, bugs, birds or plants!) teaching us to value and care for this amazing plant we inhabit.
